Renewal of Ship Sanitation Certificate – New regulations implemented in 2016

In connection with renewal of the Ship Sanitation Certificate, please be advised of the following new regulations valid for Norwegian ports:

In 2016 the Norwegian Health Directorate took over the responsibility as regards control, approval, renewal and extension of Ship Sanitation Certificates in Norwegian ports.

As a consequence changes in inspection, renewal and extension routines have been established, meaning that more comprehensive and time consuming inspections should be expected in the time ahead.  As per information at hand, extensions are no longer applicable, unless the certificate has been stamped with an extension stamp by an approved authority.  As for expired certificates, extensions are no longer granted.

In our region, which covers Kaarsto, Karmoy and Haugesund, inspection/extensions may only be done during normal office hours.
